My name is Scott Seek (R) and I have been elected to the office of County Council for the 5th district of Jefferson County.   I have been a resident of Jefferson County nearly all my life.  I grew up in Jefferson County, I went to school and after college moved back to Jefferson County.  I am Married to Jefferson County Native and my High School Sweetheart, Jodie (Whaley) Seek.  We have raised our kids Cole (19) and Mya (16) here in Jefferson County.  I have worked in Jefferson County for almost 15 years as a Financial Advisor where I look after and help manage the wealth of families in and around the Jefferson County area.  I am so lucky and blessed that I am able to root my life in a county that is so diverse in its opportunities and abundance of natural beauty.  

 

I have devoted considerable resources to the growth and betterment of the people and opportunities within our communities.  I have been a long-time board member of the Jefferson County Family YMCA.  I am a board member of the Jefferson County Growth Association.  I am the President and inaugural board member of the newly formed Jefferson County Tourism Commission.  I am a past President and current board member of the Jefferson County Parks department.  I am a board member of the Jefferson County Economic Development Commission.  I have been a Rotarian and participate in a number of community action organizations which include the I-55 corridor planning committee; Trailnet; and a founding member and coordinator of the Bottleneck Bridge Ride.

 

I am passionate about the health, growth and wellbeing of Jefferson County and its residents.  There are huge opportunities all around us.  Jefferson County is a wealth of tangible and intangible resources that if properly molded could increase the quality of life for all of our citizens.  I believe that the government should be helpful but not overbearing in our approach to the opportunities that we seize.  It will be my job to help guide our county into the abundance that we deserve.   Jefferson County has amazing resources which include the Mississippi River and our other waterways.  It has great beauty in its rolling hills and amazing landscapes.  Jefferson County’s proximity is close to the city yet has a rural feel.  I believe that we have only begun to explore our possibilities.  

 

As your county councilman I intend to look at the opportunities through a Lense of growth.  

 

I want to push for growth from the ports.  We have an amazing resource, and the time is right to take advantage of the growth opportunities from the ports. 

 

It is vitally important that we grow right.  I will lead our county as a good steward of growth by ensuring that our infrastructure grows with us.  An important aspect of Jefferson County’s growth is with our abundance of natural beauty.  Parks and transportation should be an intertwined initiative.  As we grow, we create the environment that fosters a healthy lifestyle through multimodal transportation and parks and trail growth.

 

I think that it is vitally important for Jefferson County to share all this abundance with others so that they can help us grow.  We are so fortunate to have the natural resources and natural beauty and we must foster an inviting environment.  Our shops, wineries, breweries, parks, and ports are all wonderful attractions that if supported with care will allow others to experience all that we have to offer while they happily pay for the great experience.  Through fostering and growing tourism and commerce in Jefferson County we will experience an amazing return on investment.
